Great to have you here!

Elektronmods.com is a place for everyone who loves tinkering with their Elektron devices: mods, patches, tools, hardware modifications and technical research. To keep the forum around for a long time and make it a pleasant place to be, we have a few ground rules. Most of them are pretty self-explanatory, but some are especially important for a modding forum.

1. Firmware stays with Elektron
The firmware belongs to Elektron, and we don't want to cause trouble for anyone, neither you nor the forum. So please don't upload, send via message or link to downloads of original or modified firmware files (especially .syx). Links to Elektron's official download pages are of course always fine.

2. Patchers instead of patched firmware
Here's how modding works around here: Everyone gets the firmware directly from Elektron and patches it locally with the appropriate patcher. If someone asks you for a finished file, just point them to the patcher or the project page. That's fairer to Elektron, and as a bonus, everyone knows exactly what they're putting on their device.

3. No piracy, not even "just this once"
The forum is not a trading place for protected software, firmware, sound packs or samples you don't have the rights to. This also applies to requests. So please no "Can someone send me the firmware?", no "Does anyone have the already patched .syx?" and no links to unofficial mirrors. Unfortunately, we'll have to remove posts like these.

4. Show us what you're building!
Your own patchers, tools, scripts, docs and mods are explicitly welcome here, that's exactly what this forum is all about. Just make sure you have the rights to what you share. If you build on other people's work, credit the original authors and respect their licenses. Credits cost nothing and make everyone happy.

5. Modding at your own risk
Firmware and hardware mods can brick devices, erase data or cause strange behavior. Anyone who modifies their gear does so at their own risk. Back up your projects, sounds and samples beforehand and keep the official firmware at hand. And if you write guides, please clearly mark risky steps so nobody walks into a trap unprepared.

6. Keep your guides honest
Deliberately false, manipulated or dangerous guides have no place here. Experimental stuff is totally fine, just mention it if something hasn't been tested enough yet. That way, others can decide for themselves whether they want to join the experiment.

7. Respect, even when things get heated
Technical discussions can absolutely be controversial, that often moves things forward. But stay objective and friendly. Personal attacks, insults, discrimination and trolling have no place here.

8. No spam, no scams
No advertising, no affiliate spam, no dodgy offers or suspicious download links. If you have a commercial project, you're welcome to present it, but please label it clearly as such.

9. Your posts, your responsibility
You are responsible for making sure your posts and files don't infringe on anyone else's rights. The moderators may remove content if it violates these rules or could get the forum into legal trouble. It's never meant personally, it protects the whole community. If you notice problematic content, please report it to us.

10. No line to Elektron
elektronmods.com is an independent community and has no official affiliation with Elektron Music Machines MAV AB. So please don't contact Elektron support about issues with modded devices, ask here in the community instead.

The rule of thumb for everything else
If you're ever unsure: Share the mod, the patch or the patcher, but never the firmware itself. That way you'll almost always be on the right side.

Happy tinkering!
